Why Diets Don't Work

If your reason for coming to Power Pilates UK and doing our unlimited monthly package is to lose a few pounds, then you will no doubt be thinking about what you're eating too, as we all know that diet and exercise go hand in hand. In fact, when it comes to actual weight loss, I would say that it's 80% what you eat.
However, getting sucked into the latest fad diet for quick results, will not lead to the long term results you're looking for. And the quicker you understand that, the quicker you can start working towards a new, healthier, slimmer you!
Diets don't work, in fact they set us up for failure!
The problem with the word 'diet' is that it creates a feeling of deprivation and no one likes to be deprived do they? Diets make us focus our day entirely on food (especially those dreaded calorie/point counting ones) which means that we become even more obsessed with food than we were in the first place, because the more we can't have something, the more we want it! This often causes the reverse effect of binge eating, where we end up piling on even more weight. Sound familiar?
Also, many of the diets eagerly available to buy, do not teach you to eat properly. (And yes, don't forget the diet industry is a multimillion pound business. So they in fact almost want you to fail, in order to keep making money from you!) Whether it's shakes, ready meals, living off 500 calories a day: what happens when you've lost the weight (presuming you reach that point) and you resume normal eating? You still haven't learnt how to eat healthily, all you know are these so called 'diet' products that are not sustainable for everyday life. So you are still none the wiser as to what eating healthy really means and feels like.
When it comes to losing weight, there is no miracle answer, it is in fact very simple: eat less, move more. However, you can certainly educate yourself as to what you should be eating, because if you eat the right stuff, you can eat more of it and you will never go hungry!
Over the next few weeks we'll be talking more about what you should be eating and less about the stuff you shouldn't. As I believe we should shift the focus to the abundant amount of foods we can enjoy, rather than what you think you are missing out on.

Great to see so many of you making the commitment to your fitness regime this month with our unlimited pass you are already on the right path! There's still time to sign up, as it's available until the 31st Jan. Come along as many times as you like in one month for £130..
